Eat, meet new people, use ASL, read stories in the library, socialize with Deaf people, etc.. at Glendale Mall in Indianapolis. Meet in the food court.

 

v     September 16, 2004: The Nitty Gritty of Pediatric Cochlear Implants 7:30am-4:30pm

This course covers issues related to communication development in young children with cochlear implants. Emphasis is on the practical, “nitty gritty” needs of clinicians and teachers in everyday work with these children. The course will be held at the Embassy Suites, Indianapolis North, 3912 Vincennes Rd, Indianapolis, IN. Cost is $50 for parents and $75 for professionals before Sept 2. After Sept 2, the cost is $99. v     September 17, 2004: From Emotions to Advocacy: Special Education Conference 2004

This workshop is designed to meet the needs of parents, educators, health care providers, advocates and attorneys who represent children with disabilities. Topics include ESY, Child find, IDEA, Least Restrictive Environment, IEPs, and many more. Registration will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis and no on-site registrations will be accepted. v     September 25, 2004: So my Parents/Siblings are Deaf and I want to be an Interpreter…Now What???

This workshop is intended for Children Of Deaf Adults (CODAs) and Siblings Of Deaf Adults (SODAs) who are interested in becoming interpreters but are not yet certified. Topics to be discussed include why we are here, ethics, resources for certification, myths and facts about CODA interpreters, terminology and interpreting. IIC and EIC CEUs will be offered but RID CEUs will not be offered for more information, see the attached flyer.

 

v     October 28, 2004: Technology Workshop 9am-12pm

This conference will be held at the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis and will offer interpreter CEUs. Save the date for this conference! More information will following in upcoming issues.
